The emergence of Gloria

A new butterfly has arrived in Snappy Tatter-land!

Everybody, meet Gloria. Gloria, meet everybody!

P1150747She is my newest butterfly design in royal purple and black. Gloria took several workings and re-workings to get her just right. I get a design in my head. I put it on paper. Add the stitch count. Stitch, re-write, re-stitch, adjust, stitch, adjust again and finally stitch some more. Then start all over and after the same stitches make rings and chains in just the right count and in just the right order, Gloria emerges. Like my Diana and Vivien tatted butterflies, she has wings posed ready to take flight.

Gloria is double winged and embellished with a single Czech glass bead at her center.  She balances on a 2.75″ Sterling stickpin, perfect for hats, coats, sweaters and scarves.

I have an amazing white version of her that is lined with gold beading. She is part of an embroidered garden that is very close to being finished. I will post photos of Gloria’s garden soon.

Live, Love, Tat!
