It’s that time of year folks. There is snow flurrying outside my western Pennsylvania home as I write this! I have 10 Ornament styles that are custom made in my shop now. I plan to have more soon. The following Snappy Tatter designs can be made in two different sizes and several colors. Click each flake picture to be taken to my Etsy shop listing with more pictures and full descriptions including available sizes and colors.
All of these designs are listed with a quantity of 3 most of the time. Larger quantities can be made but will take additional time, just ask. New ideas are popping up in my head all the time so hopefully I will have some new designs listed soon. I thought, since snow is falling outside my window today, I would take the time to showcase all of the Flakes I have available for custom tatting. I also have a couple of Ice Crystals and Snowballs available too. Visit this shop section, Tatted Ornaments, to find both the made to order and read to ship ornaments that are currently ready for this season.
I have been working through this fall to list my own snowflake patterns in my Etsy shop, Snappy Tatter. All together I believe I have 17 patterns. One by one I have been tatting, stiffening and taking photos of these new flakes and listing them. I have made them plain. (Beaded snowflakes are one-of-a-kind and called “Ice Crystals”.) And they have options of being tatted in two sizes in several different colors. These new flakes are replacing the tatted flakes of another designer that I have been making. I feel it is more appropriate for me to have everything in my shop be my own original styles and patterns at this point. I began tatting other people’s patterns years ago and that is how I became proficient in the art. But now I have been designing ace for half a decade and I am proud that my little business has flourished on that basis. Here is the latest snowflake that can be found in my shop and the link to the listing as well.
All of my new snowflakes come in 1 or 2 sizes and can be made in 10 colors. The quantity listed is up to 3 but I can make more upon request. I am keeping the quantity low so that crazy people that want to deck out their entire tree can’t order 100 of them and I end up tatting snow for 3 months. 🙂

Greetings everyone! Well, camping season is officially over here in Snappy Tatter-land. Booooo. We eeked out one more trip this past weekend and it was almost too chilly at 50 degrees during the day and 40’s at night. Almost. And yes, we were in a tent! And no, there was no heater! As the year winds down, business winds up in Snappy Tatter-land with the holiday season fast approaching. Enclosed in this e-Newsletter are future ST plans and recent works as well as the much coveted exclusive discounts for my followers. Continue reading →
Snappy Tatter Snow! In keeping with my Ice Crystal tradition, I embellished each Flake with exceptional one-of-a-kind glamor using Swarovski, Celestial and Czech crystals, glass beads and pearls and perfect Swarovski pearls in icy shades and Christmas colors. AB (Aurora Borealis) coating adds a brilliant multicolor shimmer to many of the glass beads.
These are Snappy Tatter original designs. The Ice Crystals and Snowballs I hand make each year are one-of-a-kind and limited edition, perfect for collecting and gift-giving!
Tatting is a knotted lace technique that is closest to micro-macrame. Hundreds and sometimes thousands of tiny knots are tied to form rings and chains. Beads are added one by one as the knots are tied or hand sewn into the finished Flake.
Visit my Etsy shop to view more photos of these and other tatted ornaments!
Yay! A milestone in Snappy Tatter-land. I just had my 400th sale!!! 🙂
I love round numbers!
And I finally have time to get the snow machine rolling around here. My newest Limited Edition Ice Crystal, No.33…crisp, snowy white embellished with Swarovski crystal. A Snappy Tatter original design!
This Flake just has to be lucky. 3 is my lucky number and my favorite. I was born 03/23/73. Seriously! At 4:14 AM. Crazy.

My second year at the Keystone Summit last week was wonderful. Now I am back. I have taken a day off, rested, had a bottle of wine, unpacked, counted inventory, re-stored everything and prepared all new work to be photographed and listed in my Etsy shop. I am still working hard! But I want all these listings to be up for the holiday which is coming way way too fast. My husband brought up the Christmas decorations yesterday and I about cried.
Here I am on Friday!
To all the new people I have met this past week and all the returning patrons from last year…Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! For making my show a great success. For being so kind and complimentary. And for spreading the love with your gift purchases for the holiday season. I hope everyone was happy with their Snappy Tatter experience and learned something new about the art of tatting and fiber art.
The top six pics are from Tuesday and the rest are from Friday. I took the experience of being there for two days as an opportunity to see what works best for the patrons. I wanted to know how they best connect with my work. By design? Or by Subcategories? Everyone seemed to have a better experience when all similar items were grouped together (on Friday). They were able to compare what they wanted and find what they were looking for with ease. I also grouped items together by style; Modern/casual, High Fashion, Floral, Fantasy, Holiday and Bugs.
As a final thought to new and future owner’s of Snappy Tatter fiber art: I always guarantee my work. I take pride in completing pieces in the most professional manner. If ever there is a question about cleaning, pressing, size, jewelry components, I am just a click away and always happy to help. The brochures that I handed out should be able to answer any questions on the care of your work on the last page. If you did not receive one, send me your address and I will be happy to email or snail mail it to you. And don’t forget, if your jewelry has Sterling components as most of my jewelry does, store it flat in a sealed plastic bag with the air pressed out to inhibit tarnish. Tarnish occurs because the Silver oxidizes with air so if you have a little moisture eater…like the kind that come in shoe boxes…toss one in. You will have to polish the silver very little. That’s a priceless little secret my Sterling findings supplier gave me.
Well, it is late and I am finishing Summit custom orders tomorrow, and trying to get more listings up on Etsy for everyone. And working on a custom order of 20 unique Snowflakes for an order due Monday. Busy does not explain it!
I post new listings to my Facebook Page and sometimes Twitter. So that’s a place to follow me if you would like to stay in the loop on what is new in my Etsy shop!
My latest gallery of work that will be traveling to my show next week. I will be there Tuesday 12/6 and Friday 12/9. If you see something you like, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to purchase ahead of time. And I will deliver your purchase at my show.
Tatted Christmas Wreath Pendants with glass beading in various shades of evergreen.
Asymmetrical Flurry in variegated blue with CZ centers and glass beading, Flounce Choker with matte navy pearls on textured lace necklace and matching earrings, and Allure with wood and glass beading, wood focal disc and matching earrings.
Graduated Simplicity Bracelet that tapers on both ends and has Czech glass beading in the center (pics 1 & 2), Embrace Cuff in heavy cordonnet, with cut picot edging and gunmetal components.
And my favorite latest design, Princess…
Each graduated ring in this tatted collar is beaded with silver-lined clear glass for a lovely twinkle. Graduated glass pearls are hand sewn through the entire design. Princess is finished with a round, floral box clasp that is both beautiful and secure.
Want more information on any of this work? Feel free to leave me a message in the comment box below or send me an email. I always respond promptly, no matter how crazy it is around here ! 😉
You know it figures that after I send out the November e-Newsletter earlier today directing my readers to the “growing Christmas Ornament section” I would go in and change the name of the section. Well, it’s now “Enjoy the Holidays”. I like it better. Sounds more inviting and I do an immense amount of work each year geared towards winter and the holidays. So I wanted to put those items together. It was fun to go through my inventory and just pick things that were white, silver, pale blue, red, green, snowflakes etc. and festive and put them all together for the next few months. I might just do that to celebrate each lovely season.
My readers are smart enough to figure out the Christmas Ornaments are in the Holiday section! Aren’t you all!
Question for anyone who would like to give me advice-I really value all of your feedback:
Would you prefer shopping through a themed (Christmas, winter, summer, floral) section with multiple types of items? Or would you prefer everything was categorized? (bracelets, earrings, cocktail rings, ornaments, fiber art)
I will always keep everything in categories but I am thinking one section that may have what visitors are looking for at the time might be helpful.
I would love to hear your input! Comment below or on Facebook or Tweet me!
