As winter comes to a close, I start to think about spring blooms and blossoms. I look for the Daffodil shoots, Forsythia buds and tiny crocuses that are always the first to bloom. But I still am making snow for customers all year long. I just enjoy it more when it is 70 and sunny out. Ha ha. Here are some of the satin ornaments that are for sale and ready to ship in my Etsy shop, Snappy Tatter:
I have been working through this fall to list my own snowflake patterns in my Etsy shop, Snappy Tatter. All together I believe I have 17 patterns. One by one I have been tatting, stiffening and taking photos of these new flakes and listing them. I have made them plain. (Beaded snowflakes are one-of-a-kind and called “Ice Crystals”.) And they have options of being tatted in two sizes in several different colors. These new flakes are replacing the tatted flakes of another designer that I have been making. I feel it is more appropriate for me to have everything in my shop be my own original styles and patterns at this point. I began tatting other people’s patterns years ago and that is how I became proficient in the art. But now I have been designing ace for half a decade and I am proud that my little business has flourished on that basis. Here is the latest snowflake that can be found in my shop and the link to the listing as well.
All of my new snowflakes come in 1 or 2 sizes and can be made in 10 colors. The quantity listed is up to 3 but I can make more upon request. I am keeping the quantity low so that crazy people that want to deck out their entire tree can’t order 100 of them and I end up tatting snow for 3 months. 🙂

Hi all! To say I am busy right now would be a ridiculous understatement. I am in that clerical/business management phase that I have to go through in preparation for a holiday show. Everything that has been packed away has to be brought out and evaluated: signage, table decor, displays, boxes, bags, labels, pamphlets… Today I will be mostly working on inventory and display as well as finishing about a dozen pairs of earrings. I also have made snowflakes and a garden watch and all of these items need photographed. In the meantime I wanted to share with you some of my most recent works but I don’t have much time to chat about them. I will make sure I come back and tell you more about the process and elements that went into making them after the dust settles. Enjoy!

That’s it for now. Time to get into that studio and start sorting it all out. I will be working late tonight and tomorrow for that matter but it is all worth it when I feel prepared and can be at my best. I can’t wait to meet new peeps and explain my work. If you are in the area, come visit! Information is in the post below. I will (hopefully) be posting more pics later of work you will see at the show.
This is where I will be this coming weekend peeps! All work that is available in my shop that is not Made to Order will be there with me. So you can actually see it in 3-D reality and touch it too. And if you really like it you can take it home with you for the fee on the tag plus a little tax so the misers of the State can get their share. 😀 All Made to order listings will remain in my shop and be available to purchase through the event. Ready made items will not be available online from Friday to some time on Sunday after I recuperate from all the excitement.
And I have great news: I will be able to take credit cards on the spot thanks to Intuit’s GoPayment app! Yahoo! I hope to see my local peeps there. And if you are the adventurous type and would like to come for the event, I can recommend a nice hotel for you to stay in. Happy Holiday shopping you crazy people!

Happy New Year everyone! Every Christmas I try to make something handmade for the girls in my family. I have my mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and five young nieces. Last year, when I was sick in September, I got on a crocheting kick and made myself a huge poncho, which I still have not taken a photo of and matching fingerless gloves. I have been getting so many compliments and they are so comfortable to wear, I decided all the women in my family should have a pair. That is 8 pairs! A lot of crocheting and about a pound of yarn!
I made the patterns of the bodies of the gloves in sets of two and all of the edgings different. I do love to crochet on occasion. It whizzes by so fast compared to shuttle-tatting. My husband thinks its hilarious that he will leave the room to check dinner and come back and I have a glove done!
The gold pair are actually more creamy colored and were for my mother-in-law. They were particularly special with a more complicated pattern and a wonderfully soft yarn. Here are all the details of the edgings:
I just used a pound of Caron’s worsted weight acrylic in black for the bodies. One pair are brown to match my niece’s winter coat. The edges on 4 of the pairs is Lily’s sugar’n cream cotton. I used Lion’s acrylic for the rest and the gold pair are Caron’s Simply Soft, which is a delight to work with.
All the girls seemed to love them! The fit was right and I think they loved the styles. It is so fun to see them all running around, opening gifts with fingerless mitts on!
I thought you all might want to see what a Snappy Tatter does when she is not tatting! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. I will be back soon!
p.s. The patterns are all mine. I am considering writing them down and selling the pdf. Anyone interested?
