Snappy Tatter Snow! In keeping with my Ice Crystal tradition, I embellished each Flake with exceptional one-of-a-kind glamor using Swarovski, Celestial and Czech crystals, glass beads and pearls and perfect Swarovski pearls in icy shades and Christmas colors. AB (Aurora Borealis) coating adds a brilliant multicolor shimmer to many of the glass beads.
These are Snappy Tatter original designs. The Ice Crystals and Snowballs I hand make each year are one-of-a-kind and limited edition, perfect for collecting and gift-giving!
Tatting is a knotted lace technique that is closest to micro-macrame. Hundreds and sometimes thousands of tiny knots are tied to form rings and chains. Beads are added one by one as the knots are tied or hand sewn into the finished Flake.

I am so excited to finally be able to show this design! It is a variation of my Phoenix and Angel wing designs and has been rattling around in my head for months. Ever since we put up a bird feeder for the first time this spring and I discovered that I was a bird watcher, I have been needing to create this. I have studied the wee birds in my back yard and love the variation of the sparrows. This is the first Sparrow design but I can think of many ways to blend the colors so there will be more from time to time. Created while on our cabin vacation it took several hours to design and shuttle-tat as I diligently created hundreds of uniform picots to make the frilly wing. Stiffened discreetly through the back and embellished with gorgeous bronze colored Swarovski pearls, this is my new favorite! Please feel free to share my newest creation with your friends!

With three shows coming up in as many weeks, I am working diligently to create a variety of work for people to explore at my tables. I have learned that it is not in my best interest, because of limited time, to list all of these items in my Etsy shop as at least 50% will sell at these shows. I do, however, like to photograph every item I create to keep in growing photo albums as a record of what I have done. I am up to four albums now! I like to present galleries of this work so everyone can see what I am up to as well as have the opportunity to purchase before it sells at an event. This Flake just has to be lucky. 3 is my lucky number and my favorite. I was born 03/23/73. Seriously! At 4:14 AM. Crazy.
Updates and improvements are beginning to move along in my Etsy shop. I was happily waylay-ed by a lovely custom order for a Debutante choker with magnificent beading through the weekend. I hope to photo it later today. Then got smashed in the head, literally, by a nasty migraine yesterday. My eye doctor’s appointment was a bit too much and I spent the rest of the day on the sofa. But I got a chance to move some items back into my shop this morning even though my head is still aching a little.
Gift Certificates are back too, in denominations of $25 and $50. I will keep posting here as my shop fills up again. And I am working hard to organize myself for a new give-away contest. Here’s a hint to what the prize will be….it would flutter away if it wasn’t pinned down! 🙂

My second year at the Keystone Summit last week was wonderful. Now I am back. I have taken a day off, rested, had a bottle of wine, unpacked, counted inventory, re-stored everything and prepared all new work to be photographed and listed in my Etsy shop. I am still working hard! But I want all these listings to be up for the holiday which is coming way way too fast. My husband brought up the Christmas decorations yesterday and I about cried.

To all the new people I have met this past week and all the returning patrons from last year…Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! For making my show a great success. For being so kind and complimentary. And for spreading the love with your gift purchases for the holiday season. I hope everyone was happy with their Snappy Tatter experience and learned something new about the art of tatting and fiber art.
The top six pics are from Tuesday and the rest are from Friday. I took the experience of being there for two days as an opportunity to see what works best for the patrons. I wanted to know how they best connect with my work. By design? Or by Subcategories? Everyone seemed to have a better experience when all similar items were grouped together (on Friday). They were able to compare what they wanted and find what they were looking for with ease. I also grouped items together by style; Modern/casual, High Fashion, Floral, Fantasy, Holiday and Bugs.
As a final thought to new and future owner’s of Snappy Tatter fiber art: I always guarantee my work. I take pride in completing pieces in the most professional manner. If ever there is a question about cleaning, pressing, size, jewelry components, I am just a click away and always happy to help. The brochures that I handed out should be able to answer any questions on the care of your work on the last page. If you did not receive one, send me your address and I will be happy to email or snail mail it to you. And don’t forget, if your jewelry has Sterling components as most of my jewelry does, store it flat in a sealed plastic bag with the air pressed out to inhibit tarnish. Tarnish occurs because the Silver oxidizes with air so if you have a little moisture eater…like the kind that come in shoe boxes…toss one in. You will have to polish the silver very little. That’s a priceless little secret my Sterling findings supplier gave me.
Well, it is late and I am finishing Summit custom orders tomorrow, and trying to get more listings up on Etsy for everyone. And working on a custom order of 20 unique Snowflakes for an order due Monday. Busy does not explain it!
