A question for you!

You know it figures that after I send out the November e-Newsletter earlier today directing my readers to the “growing Christmas Ornament section” I would go in and change the name of the section. Well, it’s now Enjoy the Holidays”. I like it better. Sounds more inviting and I do an immense amount of work each year geared towards winter and the holidays. So I wanted to put those items together. It was fun to go through my inventory and just pick things that were white, silver, pale blue, red, green, snowflakes etc. and festive and put them all together for the next few months. I might just do that to celebrate each lovely season.

My readers are smart enough to figure out the Christmas Ornaments are in the Holiday section! Aren’t you all!

Question for anyone who would like to give me advice-I really value all of your feedback:

Would you prefer shopping through a themed (Christmas, winter, summer, floral) section with multiple types of items?  Or would you prefer everything was categorized? (bracelets, earrings, cocktail rings, ornaments, fiber art)

I will always keep everything in categories but I am thinking one section that may have what visitors are looking for at the time might be helpful.

I would love to hear your input! Comment below or on Facebook or Tweet me!

Thinking ahead…time for Leaves and Snowflakes

I have been diligently tatting here in my home studio. Adding fresh fall and winter designs to my Etsy shop. I haven’t been blogging as much as tatting and having company here.

My father came last weekend with Squirt’s (the water dragon) new home which I have taken photos of  and plan to post about soon.

My husband has finished hand making a large wooden cooking spoon and I will be dedicating a post to him and his spoon making talent soon as well.

Also-I will be having another guest artist that I think everyone will enjoy. I have to get her questions out and the post formatted so hopefully I can introduce you to her by next week.

For some reason my regular life just seems so busy. I am going somewhere most days and weekends are full of company, family and gardening. I guess being busy is not a bad thing but I like life to go slooooow. Days are whizzing by. I have also been overwhelmed with Etsy’s new change to relevance being the default search for the site. I have had to go through all 166 listings and change tags, titles and descriptions to make myself more relevant to this search option. Frankly, it’s a little depressing that I am not as relevant as before. Sniff. So that has made me crazy busy. And just crazy.

I did notice that my pages in my menu to the left for Cocktail rings, Brooches and Barrettes disappeared and I have returned them to the top of the menu today. I probably had some intention of moving them and then life just carried me away before I finished. That seems to be the theme in my life lately. I am floating around like an Autumn leaf.

Speaking of which, here is my latest work, please click on the photo for more description and photos on my Etsy site:

Snappy Tatter

Maple Pendant in Variegation

For this Maple leaf I tatted with gold colored silver-lined seeds all around the edge and a mixture of gold and green down the stem. Tatting and beading in this manner is slow but so worth the time. The leaf edges seem dipped in gold.

Birch Leaf Earrings

My original Birch Leaf pattern with glass rocailles tatted all around the edges. They have a natural look to them that I am really enjoying. I used the finest cordonnet, size 80, and made the pattern a little smaller to get 1.25″ long earrings.

A New PIXIE Butterfly Pin

Heavy black cordonnet embellished with silver lined gold glass in the wings and a brilliant Swarovski Bi-cone crystal in the center. This little bugger will join my other PIXIE Pins I have listed.

And the Snow machine has started as I am recreating some of my patterns from last year to figure out time and consequently price. I have a lot of satin balls to cover and hope to start designing some new flakes when we go for another cabin vacation in October.

And I got new adjustable ring bases in.  Antique bronze and Platinum coated metal  that adjusts from 6.25 to 8. These will be replacing the agate base rings that I have now because they are adjustable. I am pleased with the quality and look of these ring bases. I have been hesitant to add adjustable bands because I could not find a quality or look I liked. So now my current Cocktail Rings with the Agate Stone Base on Etsy are 25% off. There are only five left and you can find them here.

First, I made one for myself because frankly… I just wanted one.

Silver 8-petal Flair flower with clear glass beading tatted around the edge that has Aurora Borealis coating (a permanent clear, multicolor effect). Very pale mint green beads around the large white glass pearl and Turquoise rondelles that have been coated with a very shiny resin around the center. I love it and it will go with a lot of my turquoise and black and green clothes….and brown, red, orange….

The Dare Cocktail Ring

This is the first time this ring style has been on Etsy. It has sold at shows and at the Blue Heron Art Gallery and is one of my favorite ring designs because I have long thin fingers. Black cordonnet with gold and grape colored glass beading tatted into the design. Deep purple crystals and a large light bronze Czech glass round embellish the center.

Flair Cocktail Ring

The original 6-petal Flair flower design embellished with dark pewter glass around the edges and Hematite through the center on a Platinum coated band. It has a nice weight to it with the Hematite stones.

And a new one…The Cosmos Cocktail Ring

This new design is four graduated layers of beaded tatting in 6 petals. Reminds me of the simple Cosmos flower. A frilly purple Teeny Tat embellishes the center with a large jet black Crystal. I’m liking it. It looks very wide on my hand but my hands are very very small.

I hope everyone has enjoyed my babbling and gallery of new work. I will be adding to the menu to the left as I have time and posting more about Snappy Tatter-land when I can.

Cheers everyone!

Christmas in July!

It’s Christmas in July in Snappy Tatter-land! I have been camping, designing and tatting through the week and haven’t had much time to Blog, Facebook etc. I have a new Couture choker I am working on. It will be named Goddess. I am hoping to have it finished by the end of the week. And I am working on a feathered wing design that is proving to be quite a challenge. I recently designed a Pink Ribbon pendant for my friend at the post office who is a cancer survivor and I will be posting a Pink Ribbon Pin on Etsy soon. I hope to drop in some photos of the the pendant later today or tomorrow.

We camped through last weekend in the woods of Raccoon Creek. We had a wonderful time. The weather was beautiful, we were away from everything and truly relaxed. We came home to a garden that had doubled in size, two lazy cats and a green, happy lizard. Soon we will have cucumbers and tomatoes by the pounds.

SNAPPY SHOP NEWS: Snappy Tatter on Etsy is having a Christmas in July sale. 25% off everything holiday related. For my Blog readers, subscribers and Facebook friends, this is in addition to the July coupons SNAPPYFIREWORKS, which takes 10% off everything or SNAPPYSHIPPING, which is free shipping on everything. The sale price is already adjusted on the items below so you can use either of the coupons at checkout for additional savings. Also-the last of my tatted butterfly applique is still 50% off with automatic free shipping. I have moved my butterfly applique to my sister shop JJBeads.

All of these items are found in my shop, Snappy Tatter. This sale will continue through all of July.

If you have any questions on how to use a coupon code when shopping through Etsy or would like to purchase outside of Etsy, drop me a line at

I have a super busy day of filling weekend orders and working out my newest designs. I hope to have good pics for everyone later.

An Apple for the Teacher!

Something new and fun to share…

I purchased many 3″ and 2.5″ satin balls this past winter with the intention of creating Fiber Art designs and mounting them on the balls for ornaments. My mind is always one step ahead of what I am able to do physically or time-wise. So-I had been wanting to add a leaf or leaves and flower(s) to a ball and started with my shuttle-tatted Flair blossom pattern in white with very bright yellow glass edge beading. Then I made a crisp white leaf with clear beading to match.

The fun part came when we sat down to watch our movies this past weekend and it was time to finish the ornament with the many options of beads, balls  and pins that I have acquired.  After selecting a bright red ball and placing the beaded leaf on it…voila! Apple, I thought, “how fun is this!” I finished out the beading with matching bright red,  AB coated amber and bright golden yellow with a big AB coated clear crystal in the center of the Flair.

Attached with wee sequin pins that are neatly hidden, the leaf and Flair transform this red holiday ball into a Red Delicious Apple.

This Snowball ornament is listed in my Etsy shop

Tis the season to be busy…

I have been a very busy girl. Aside from my desktop PC crashing, I have been preparing for the Keystone Summit last Tuesday, which I enjoyed immensely, and the holiday party we had at the Blue Heron on Monday. I have been very tired. I feel I am finally recovering and today I return to the Blue Heron where I am a resident artist to bring some of my new work and have a meeting with my Director. Because of the dreaded PC crash I am unable to edit  and save my photos which has hindered my ability to list new listings on Etsy or showcase my work here. I will be back to normal soon in both my energy level, and after buying a new PC this weekend. I am tatting away with holiday custom orders and will check in soon…

I think I am still full….

Thanksgiving is now days behind us but I swear I still feel full from turkey and dressing and cranberry sauce…
I got on my elliptical for the first time in months to try to whittle my thighs back into a reasonable size :o)

The Keystone Summit is coming fast. In one week I will be at my husband’s industrial park displaying my fiber art and jewelry for a festive holiday sale. I will be one of 6 artisans there talking about my craft for the day. It’s crunch time. A LOT of work still needs to be finished, photographed, cataloged and priced. This piece is just one of several metal embellished keepsake boxes I will have there.

FlutterBlush Daydream. The leaves and butterflies are tatted along with the teeny flowers in the right hand corner. The Mum in the center is ribbon embroidery. Various sizes of silk ribbon were used as well as a very cool specialty cord that is a pink mesh tube. The center of the flowers are embellished with faux pearls. Tiny seed beads in matte pink and silver lined pink are stitched around the bottom of the scene. The fabric is a pale blue damask Aida.  Handmade cable in two shades of green border the garden and the entire inside is lined with deep red felt. The metal box is approximately 4″ x 3 1/4″ and has a hinged lid. FlutterBlush Daydream. A daydream for the two PIXIE butterflies that are enjoying this blossom…this little treasure will be at the Keystone Summit on the 7th.

I will have more photos of my work as I begin to record the pieces that are going to the Summit.
