It’s that time of year folks. There is snow flurrying outside my western Pennsylvania home as I write this! I have 10 Ornament styles that are custom made in my shop now. I plan to have more soon. The following Snappy Tatter designs can be made in two different sizes and several colors. Click each flake picture to be taken to my Etsy shop listing with more pictures and full descriptions including available sizes and colors.
All of these designs are listed with a quantity of 3 most of the time. Larger quantities can be made but will take additional time, just ask. New ideas are popping up in my head all the time so hopefully I will have some new designs listed soon. I thought, since snow is falling outside my window today, I would take the time to showcase all of the Flakes I have available for custom tatting. I also have a couple of Ice Crystals and Snowballs available too. Visit this shop section, Tatted Ornaments, to find both the made to order and read to ship ornaments that are currently ready for this season.
I have been working through this fall to list my own snowflake patterns in my Etsy shop, Snappy Tatter. All together I believe I have 17 patterns. One by one I have been tatting, stiffening and taking photos of these new flakes and listing them. I have made them plain. (Beaded snowflakes are one-of-a-kind and called “Ice Crystals”.) And they have options of being tatted in two sizes in several different colors. These new flakes are replacing the tatted flakes of another designer that I have been making. I feel it is more appropriate for me to have everything in my shop be my own original styles and patterns at this point. I began tatting other people’s patterns years ago and that is how I became proficient in the art. But now I have been designing ace for half a decade and I am proud that my little business has flourished on that basis. Here is the latest snowflake that can be found in my shop and the link to the listing as well.
All of my new snowflakes come in 1 or 2 sizes and can be made in 10 colors. The quantity listed is up to 3 but I can make more upon request. I am keeping the quantity low so that crazy people that want to deck out their entire tree can’t order 100 of them and I end up tatting snow for 3 months. 🙂
Hi all! To say I am busy right now would be a ridiculous understatement. I am in that clerical/business management phase that I have to go through in preparation for a holiday show. Everything that has been packed away has to be brought out and evaluated: signage, table decor, displays, boxes, bags, labels, pamphlets… Today I will be mostly working on inventory and display as well as finishing about a dozen pairs of earrings. I also have made snowflakes and a garden watch and all of these items need photographed. In the meantime I wanted to share with you some of my most recent works but I don’t have much time to chat about them. I will make sure I come back and tell you more about the process and elements that went into making them after the dust settles. Enjoy!

Medallion Flake No.1
That’s it for now. Time to get into that studio and start sorting it all out. I will be working late tonight and tomorrow for that matter but it is all worth it when I feel prepared and can be at my best. I can’t wait to meet new peeps and explain my work. If you are in the area, come visit! Information is in the post below. I will (hopefully) be posting more pics later of work you will see at the show.
Yay! A milestone in Snappy Tatter-land. I just had my 400th sale!!! 🙂
I love round numbers!
And I finally have time to get the snow machine rolling around here. My newest Limited Edition Ice Crystal, No.33…crisp, snowy white embellished with Swarovski crystal. A Snappy Tatter original design!
This Flake just has to be lucky. 3 is my lucky number and my favorite. I was born 03/23/73. Seriously! At 4:14 AM. Crazy.
I am excited to introduce my first guest Artist in Snappy Tatter-land, Sarah E. Hennessey.
Sarah E. Hennessey from sometimesiswirl is a fantastic artist I discovered while perusing the many talented artisans on Etsy. I immediately fell in love with her lively, swirling style and bold designs. I feel her style speaks to me and truly is a treat to the eyes. Modern, organic and flowing, Art Nouveau is how I would describe her work. Her designs are swirling floral originals and prints in ink, bold embroidery framed in traditional hoops, swirling designs adorning vases and fabrics and sharp, intricate line-drawn cities. She creatively pushes her boundaries exploring new colors and textures as well as mediums. I follow sometimesiswirl on Facebook and am always amused by the light sense of humor and candor of her postings. She is fresh and talented and I hope everyone enjoys this interview. A gallery of her work as well as social connections and a special Etsy shop coupon is found after her interview. read on for her wonderful interview and gallery of work…
