As winter comes to a close, I start to think about spring blooms and blossoms. I look for the Daffodil shoots, Forsythia buds and tiny crocuses that are always the first to bloom. But I still am making snow for customers all year long. I just enjoy it more when it is 70 and sunny out. Ha ha. Here are some of the satin ornaments that are for sale and ready to ship in my Etsy shop, Snappy Tatter:
It’s that time of year folks. There is snow flurrying outside my western Pennsylvania home as I write this! I have 10 Ornament styles that are custom made in my shop now. I plan to have more soon. The following Snappy Tatter designs can be made in two different sizes and several colors. Click each flake picture to be taken to my Etsy shop listing with more pictures and full descriptions including available sizes and colors.
All of these designs are listed with a quantity of 3 most of the time. Larger quantities can be made but will take additional time, just ask. New ideas are popping up in my head all the time so hopefully I will have some new designs listed soon. I thought, since snow is falling outside my window today, I would take the time to showcase all of the Flakes I have available for custom tatting. I also have a couple of Ice Crystals and Snowballs available too. Visit this shop section, Tatted Ornaments, to find both the made to order and read to ship ornaments that are currently ready for this season.
I have been working through this fall to list my own snowflake patterns in my Etsy shop, Snappy Tatter. All together I believe I have 17 patterns. One by one I have been tatting, stiffening and taking photos of these new flakes and listing them. I have made them plain. (Beaded snowflakes are one-of-a-kind and called “Ice Crystals”.) And they have options of being tatted in two sizes in several different colors. These new flakes are replacing the tatted flakes of another designer that I have been making. I feel it is more appropriate for me to have everything in my shop be my own original styles and patterns at this point. I began tatting other people’s patterns years ago and that is how I became proficient in the art. But now I have been designing ace for half a decade and I am proud that my little business has flourished on that basis. Here is the latest snowflake that can be found in my shop and the link to the listing as well.
All of my new snowflakes come in 1 or 2 sizes and can be made in 10 colors. The quantity listed is up to 3 but I can make more upon request. I am keeping the quantity low so that crazy people that want to deck out their entire tree can’t order 100 of them and I end up tatting snow for 3 months. 🙂
Yay! A milestone in Snappy Tatter-land. I just had my 400th sale!!! 🙂
I love round numbers!
And I finally have time to get the snow machine rolling around here. My newest Limited Edition Ice Crystal, No.33…crisp, snowy white embellished with Swarovski crystal. A Snappy Tatter original design!
This Flake just has to be lucky. 3 is my lucky number and my favorite. I was born 03/23/73. Seriously! At 4:14 AM. Crazy.
Sometimes, when I sit down in the evening to tat I am just in the mood for something a little simpler. Snowflakes are a good past time. I work from my own pattern book and typically change something every time I work. More picots, longer chains, bigger rings…different cord. It is amazing how even small changes can impact the overall design of a tatting pattern. The Snowball (No.8) shown above is one of my simplest patterns frilly-fied. I added uniform picots to the rings wherever I could creating a pleasantly textured flake. The rings at the points are reversed so the picots lay flat and hug the satin ball. I love the Mallard Blue color with the snow white flake on it. It has been embellished with glass pearls in the rings.
The No.12 Snowball was truly a unique delight to design. I wanted the effect of crystalized flurries. I made many Teeny Tats (tiny picot-ed rings) and secured them with AB coated Celestial Crystal. After spending a considerable amount of time tacking the Teenies to the ball I felt there just needed to be a little bit of something more…whimsical life. In come the wee PIXIE butterflies-peach in color with glass beaded wings and pink Swarovski crystals in their middles. I finished off this PIXIE wonderland with a few clusters of tatted leaves embellished with more Swarovski. It is a delight to my eyes.
I will be listing all the Snowballs as I make them in my menu to the left.
